Low Carb Copycat Chicken Flame Broiler Bowl

Flame Broiler is a pretty new fast food chain that has popped up here in southern california. They make these delicious bowls with rice, veggies and charbroiled/grilled meat on top. You can also choose from a variety of sauces to add. Magic sauce, hot sauce or extra hot sauce.

This was one of my favorite places because the healthy options. Once going low carb/keto I began to get my bowls without the rice and just veggies/meat.

One day I decided to start trying to make it at home. I always love to remake yummy foods from fast food/restaurants into my own healthier versions.

I had a great fall and winter growing season. I grew some huge flat dutch cabbages. I grew some carrots too. I chopped up both the cabbage and carrot which was the base of my bowl.

Once I had those chopped up and washed. I steam the veggies and I begin to work on the chicken.

It usually cost extra to get white meat chicken in yout flame broiler bowl. They originally use chicken thighs which you can use if you prefer. Both are delicious!

You can also use skirt steak and make a half&half bowl if you prefer. Or if you like, you can swap the chicken and just use all beef.

I heat up some oil in small skillet. I prefer to use sesame oil but I most of the time don't have it on hand. I use canola or coconut oil for this recipe. Any oil is fine though.

The key is to cook your meat on high heat and keep on stirring while it gets a brown char.

After the meat is cooked I assemble my bowl with the veggies first, the meat, and then some green onions. Yum!

For sauce I use sweet baby rays buffalo wing sauce. Franks red hot would be good too.
*I have not worked on perfecting a magic sauce but a little teriyaki and a thickening agent like cornstarch or xanthan to thicken it may work. Use your favorite sauce

2. Place your chopped cabbage, carrots and broccoli if you are using it into a steamer. Make sure to really keep an eye so the veggies don't overcook.

3. Meanwhile. Chop your chicken and/or steak if you are using that into pieces. Heat up your pan with the oil on high heat.

4. Add the meat to the hot oil. Then add the teriyaki sauce and pinch of coconut sugar. *Divide the teriyaki and coconut sugar if you are making a half&half bowl
